Gangsta Racing rev’s up for 2009

By Ryan Lawliss

Weare, N.H. (March 2, 2009) – With the 2008 racing season in the rear view mirror; we are coming up fast on the 2009 season. After a great first season in which Kenny won the True Value Modified Racing Series (TVMRS) Rookie of the Year honors and had numerous top ten finishes. Kenny and the entire Gangsta Racing team saw great improvements.

For the 2009 racing season Gangsta Racing is going to be returning to the TVMRS. We also plan on running as many of the modified shows at Monadnock Speedway as our schedule allows.

This past weekend Gangsta Racing attended the Speedway Expo in West Springfield, MA. While at the show I was able to sit down and talk with Kenny about the upcoming season and he expressed to me that he can’t wait to get back on the track and pick up where he left off last season.

We hope to see you at the track.

NOTES:

Gangsta Racing is proud to announce that we have brought R2C Performance Products on bored as a product sponsor. We are looking forward to using their quality products all season long. You can check out their website and products at www.r2cperformance.com.

2008 TVMRS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

by Ryan Lawliss

October 26th, 2008

Claremont, N.H. - The 2008 racing season is finished for Gangsta Racing and what a season it was. Over the course of the season Kenny found himself running in the top 10 on numerous occasions. After battling all season long Kenny finished the season with a 18th place finish at Twin State Speedway, to win Rookie of the Year honors. However it wasn’t an easy road to get there!

Kenny entered the race at Twin State Speedway with only a 24 point lead over Joe Doucette in the 55 modified. Kenny, having never been to Twin State Speedway before, used the first practice to try and figure the place out. After the first practice the team made some changes to the car, unfortunately Kenny would never make it out on the track for the second and final practice. Kenny would start 2nd in the 3rd heat race but would have a rough go at it as the car was a little off. Kenny would finish 5th in his heat and would start 14th in the feature.

At the start of the Kenny would settle into line quickly and started to get into a rhythm until the first caution came out. Kenny would restart on the outside and this would prove to be a problem. Kenny quickly started to loose a lot of ground before being able to get to the bottom of the track. A few laps later another caution would come out; and again Kenny would be restarting on the outside this time proving to be extremely costly. About two laps later the 15 modified of Chris Pasteryak would spin and Kenny would make contact with him causing front end damage. The crew would spend the next few cautions fixing the car, unfortunately before they could get everything lined up and fixed Kenny went a lap down. However the crew fixed the car and for the rest of the race Kenny picked up as many spots as he could. And in the end everything worked out. Kenny won Rookie of the Year honors by 20 points.

After the race Kenny talked to numerous reports, but one of the reports asked him a question about his favorite moment this season. And his answer was all the hard work and dedication by the crew and all of the support from his wife, mother, and father.

With the season over check back over the winter for updates on the plans for 2009 and any other important announcements.

Rough Saturday turns into a Great Sunday

by Ryan Lawliss

October 15th, 2008

Seekonk, MA - After a Saturday that saw the 77 modified at the bottom of the speed charts and in a heat race that was slowed down by a red flag to clean the track, the entire Gangsta Racing team hoped for a turn around on Sunday.

Kenny would finish 6th in the 2nd heat race giving him the 17th starting spot for the feature. Thankfully the modifieds got one more practice on Sunday afternoon before the features started. After that practice Kenny would be extremely happy with the car.

At the start of the feature Kenny would lose a few spots before settling in and getting into a rhythm. After the first 25 laps or so Kenny started driving the 77 modified towards the front. The races first caution would be brought out on lap 63. Kenny would find himself running 11th at the time and would report to the crew that the car was handling great. On the restart a lapped car would spin out bring the second and final caution of the race out. Kenny would continue to race hard for the final 37 laps. Kenny would pass Kirk Alexander on lap 95 for the 10th position. Kenny wouldn’t gain any more positions before the end of the race. Kenny was extremely happy with his finish and so was the rest of Gangsta Racing.

Kenny would leave Seekonk Speedway with a 24 point lead over the Joe Doucette in the Rookie of the Year point standings with only one race left.

Kenny and Gangsta Racing will be taking weekend of the 17th- 19th off from racing. But Kenny and Gangsta Racing will be extremely busy the weekend of the 24th -26th. Kenny will be racing the final All- Star Showdown race at All- Star Speedway, with qualifying on Friday night, October 24th and the feature on Saturday night, October 25th. Then Kenny and Gangsta Racing will head to the final TVMRS race of the season at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH for the Ricky Miller Memorial 100.

October 9th, 2008

Lee, NH - On Saturday Gangsta Racing and Kenny White Jr. unloaded the 77 modified at Lee USA Speedway. After drawing for starting spots in the heat races, practice started. After practice we learned that Kenny would be starting 9th out of 9 cars in the first heat race, however he wouldn’t stay 9th for long. Kenny would quickly get up on the wheel and drive the 77 modified towards the front into and got himself a 4th place finish. This good finish would result in starting 10th in the feature event on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday morning Gangsta Racing went to work on the 77 modified making sure everything was prepared for the feature event. Kenny would keep the 77 modified in the top 10 until a miner mishap on lap 96. Kenny would restart in 13th position. Kenny would pick up one more position before the checker flags waved 4 laps later, resulting in a 12th place finish. However Kenny’s finish doesn’t show how strong the car was all day. Kenny did managed to increase his lead for the Rookie of the Year honors. Kenny currently leads the 55 modified by 14 points with two races left.

The next event is October 10 and 11 at Seekonk Speedway for the annual DAV memorial race. This is a two day show with many different divisions. Qualifying will take place on Saturday and the feature will take place on Sunday afternoon. For more information visit the True Value Modified Racing Series website.
THIRD TOP TEN IN A ROW

October 1, 2008

Epping, NH (September 24, 2008) - This past weekend Kenny and Gangsta Racing returned to a familiar track in All-Star Speedway. Entering the race at All- Star, Kenny was 12 points behind Joe Doucette in the rookie of the year (ROY) standings. Everyone on the team hoped returning to a familiar track would help gain some of those points back. Kenny would leave All- Star with a 10 point lead over Doucette in the ROY standings.

Kenny would start the day out with a pretty good car. During practice Kenny was one of the faster cars. Thanks to the luck of the draw Kenny would start on the pole for the second heat and what a heat it was. What took place in the second heat is one of the reasons the why fans love to watch the True Value Modified Racing Series. Kenny would go the entire heat race side by side with Sean Bodreau with Bodreau winning by one- one hundredths of a second. With this second place finish Kenny would start the feature event in the 5th spot.

At the start of the feature Kenny would loose a few spots but would settle in and run most of the race in the top 10. Kenny would run a very clean race and would stayed out of trouble all night to bring home a 9th place finish. Not only would Kenny take the lead on the ROY standings he would pick up two spots in the driver points standings.

With three races left in the season Kenny is focusing on having good finishes and bring the car home in one piece. The next stop for Kenny and Gangsta Racing will be Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH on Sunday, September 28 for the “Ricky Miller 100.”

All-Star Speedway
by Shauna Labonville

This weekend Team Gangsta were going to their home track.  The team started early Saturday morning scaling and setting up the car at their shop in Weare, NH.  After the car was loaded the team headed to the track.  Practice started at 3PM, Kenny was happy to be at his home track.  He felt "at home",  Kenny was running 12.9 and 13.0 during his 2 rounds of practice.  The car felt good.  The team was hoping for a good weekend to gain back the rookie point lead.  One of the team members drew a 2 which tells where the car will start in the heat.  Kenny was going to start on the pole of the 2nd heat.  The green flag dropped in Kenny's heat.   Kenny had some coaching prior to the heat from a good friend and a long time driver of modified's Carl Pasteryack.  The coaching work and on the first lap, Kenny took 2 car lengths of a lead.  The 77 modified was a rocket ship.  On the 2nd lap there was a caution on the restart and through out the rest of the race, Kenny and Sean Bodreau fought for the lead. Unfortunately, Kenny finished 2nd although it was very close to call.  Kenny started 5th in the feature.  Kenny was asked to do an autograph session along with the rest of the True Value Drivers but, that was canceled due to time restrictions.  The green flag dropped in the feature, Kenny was having a hard time holding onto the car.  It was too tight, Kenny knew that the 77 modified would be good at the end of the race.  Where it matters the most.  So when the yellow dropped Kenny decided that he didn't want to do anything to try a loosen the car.  Then it would be too loose in the end.  By lap 50, the car was starting to "Hook UP" Kenny was able to work the 77 mod on the outside.  Which when he can do that he knows that he has a good car. The last caution of the night caused a green, white, checkered restart.  Kenny was pumped, he wanted to pass at least 2 cars to ensure a top 10 finish.  Sure enough on the restart Kenny maneuvered around 2 race cars. The checkered drop and the 77 team finished 9th.  Kenny and Team Gangsta regained the lead of the Rookie of the year by 10 points.  It was also the 3rd top 10 in the last 3 races.  Next weekend is Twin State, Claremont, NH on a Sunday.  Hope to see some fans there. Wish us Luck.SECOND TOP TEN IN A ROW FOR GANGSTA RACING
by Ryan Lawliss

September 15, 2008

Thompson, CT (September 11, 2008) - Before we talk about this past weekends race. Everyone at Gangsta Racing would like to take a moment to thank all of our service men and women for everything they do to protect and defend our great country.

Gangsta Racing decided this past weekend to bring two cars to Thompson. One to run in the True Value Modified Racing Series (TVMRS) and the other to run in the Race of Champions (ROC) series. After only getting a very brief practice on Saturday due to rain all of qualifying was canceled. The ROC series drew for starting spots and Gangsta Racing drew the 21st starting spot out of 26 cars. The TVMRS decided to use owner points to decided the starting order, which meant that Gangsta Racing would be starting 9th.

On Sunday there would be a short practice session for each series that was at Thompson. Unfortunately, Gangsta Racing couldn’t get the TVMRS car to start. They pushed the 77 TVMRS car into the pits where the problem was quickly diagnosed and fixed. Due to schedule changes Kenny had to quickly jump out of one car and right into the other to make the ROC practice session that was right after the TVMRS practice. Another obstacle lay in front of Gangsta Racing. The ROC feature was the feature right before the TVMRS.

So as the ROC series took the track for there 75 green lap feature, the entire team was hoping for a strong finish, unfortunately as the green flag waved on the field the number 96 car got loose and Kenny managed to get by almost untouched. Eventually Kenny would bring the 77 Gangsta Racing modified down pit road for the team to change the right front tire that was damaged by hitting the front stretch wall. About 30 laps into the event Kenny reported the engine was a little warm and decided to bring the car in and put it behind the wall. As we are not running this series for points there would be no reason to damage the motor. The upside to this is Kenny got to get a brake before the TVMRS feature that was coming onto the track next.

Kenny would have a decent starting spot thanks to his location in the owner points. As the green flag waved on the field Kenny lost a few spots. Over the course of the race Kenny would do an amazing job of avoiding numerous wrecks. However Kenny would loose power steering just after halfway. Making his job that much tougher. Kenny did a great job in bring the car home in one piece with a 9th place finish. In doing so Kenny gained 8 points on the Rookie of the Year points leader and now seats 12 points back with 4 races left.

The next schedule race will take Kenny back to a very familiar track in All- Star Speedway. Kenny got his first win there last season in a modified and hopes to have another strong finish.

Thompson ROC & TVMRS
by Shauna Labonville

Thompson, CT. Kenny and the Gangsta Team raced at Thompson motor speedway for the Modified Mania Weekend, The Team worked hard to prepare two cars. Both cars had to get motors put in. The old motor that was in the 77 was put into the 01 and a brand new motor was put into the 77 car. One to run in the ROC tour and the other #77 in the True Value Tour. Everyone arrived to the track early Saturday morning after spending the night in Keene to make sure the car was set up correctly so Kenny wouldn't get hurt. Saturday the weather wasn't too promising.. Surprisingly enough both cars were able to practice that day.. Around 3pm Kenny started to prepare for qualifying.. The old 01 car was the one running in the rock tour.. It kept over heating, but it was giving Kenny some track time considering he hadn't been to Thompson in a long time. The 77 car was going well in the True value tour. The times were 19.2 and 19.3's which were consistant with the other competitors. The qualifying ended up getting rained out from the hurricane that was moving in...Everyone was surprised on how much they got in during the day...but were concerned of what Sunday would bring.
Sunday ended up being a nice day.. We started a little rough.. We were able to get in a 20 min practice for each tour.. Unfortunatley the 77 would not start it need an alternator. So Kenny switched int0o the other car. Luckily he made that practice, and got some more track time. The rock tour race went out first, The first few laps were great. There were a few cautions. Through out those cautions the car started to over heat. When the green flag dropped again.. Kenny started to lose positions because the motor just couldn't hack it.. The temp on the motor was 230! That isn't good.. So Kenny had to0 pull in that car so he didnt ruin the motor. Luckily it didn't happened in the tour that mattered. Next came the true Value race,, Kenny and Team gangsta were hoping for a good finish to try and move us up in the rookie points. The car ran perfect.. Kenny was passing card left and right... Kenny was into the wall a few times but nothing that was pressing on the car. All and All Thompson was a good weekend for the True Value tour, Kenny finished 8th and is now only 12 points off from the rookie lead.

This weekend we are at star speedway one of Kenny's home tracks. Team Gangsta is hoping to take over the rookie lead or at least get a good finish which Everyone on the team deserves. Wish us luck and we hope to see some fans there!

TOP TEN FOR GANGSTA RACING AT THE DOG

August 29, 2008

Winchester, NH (August 27, 2008) – After a rough night at Waterford the past weekend the team had high hopes of turning around their luck. Well it seemed to be heading in the right direction as Kenny would be starting on the pole of the second heat race.
As the green flag waved for the second heat Kenny quickly jumped out into the lead. At one point Kenny had a four car length lead over the rest of the field. However a spinning car would bring out a caution and on the restart the 10X car would get a jump on Kenny. Kenny would end up finishing second in his heat giving him the fourth staring position for the feature.
Twenty-two cars would take the green flag for the 100 lap feature. Kenny would find himself in third place until a restart on lap 69, when on the restart the car on the outside would make a little contact causing Kenny to get a bad start. Kenny ended up dropping back six places before he managed to get in line with the leaders. Kenny would pass one more car for position before the end of the race. Kenny would record his best finish in the TVMRS with an 8th place. Kenny and Gangsta Racing will head to Seekonk Speedway in hopes of having another good finish.

August 27, 2008

Beech Ridge was a rain out!

At Wiscasset we were running good and then the motor overheated...we running 7th at the time.

Waterford:

Waterford, CT Kenny's first practice this season was at Waterford he loves this track.  The car was set up!  The team arrived at the track early to repair the radiator from last weekend,  Kenny Barry had to bring it from Spafco.  In practice we were running awesome times 14.4's and 14.3's.  We were running right up with the veterans of True Value Series.  Kenny started 7th in the first heat.  Kenny said the car was running great!  He was stuck behind some slow cars.  Kenny knew that once he was around them it was going to be smooth sailing.  On lap four on the front stretch, he tried to pass one of the slow cars.  Another car was behind him and had no where to go so the other car went up over kennys front nerf bar.  The team was disappointed but they knew that they would be able to fix it before the race.  There was a broken LF spindle,  steering rack and LR trailing arm.  The only thing that was the team didn't know was if Kenny was going to have to go out for the consi.  The other car that was in the wreck with Kenny had too much damage to his car so he didn't race.  The car was all set to start the feature hoping everything was in good working order.  Kenny started last in the field of 28 the biggest field of the season.  Come feature time the car was running great,  the green flag dropped and Kenny knew that he had a good race car.  He began to come through the field of cars,  passing one and then another.  The leader was going soo fast that he caught up!  Kenny stayed on the lead lap the whole time with the leader right on his bumper.  Then a caution came out!  Team Gangsta was thrilled that Kenny could stay on the lead lap.  The green flag dropped again on lap 55 Kenny was in an accident .  A car came down into his line and spun him out.  Everybody was disappointed.  Kenny had to go in and change a RF Tire.  The green flag dropped again.  Hoping to have better luck this time,  Kenny started in the rear of the field again, although there were lapped cars mixed in the pack.  On lap 75 another caution came out.  It was Kenny AGAIN!  A car was trying to pass Kenny and he was under him too much and he spun Kenny out.  Kenny was T boned and lucky that he wasnt hurt.  Nothing was rubbing on the car after that just a damage to the nerf bar.  After That crazy night of racing Kenny finished 15th on the lead lap.  After the night he had that was just like first place!!  Team Gangsta did a great job keeping their heads up and doing the best that they could with what they had.  Next weekend is Monadnock.  Hopefully we will have better luck there...and wont hit everything but the lottery!  Wish us Luck!
Engine Trouble at Lee USA for Gangsta Racing

July 17, 2008

Lee USA Epping NH~ Team Gangsta had a tough night at their home town track. The first practice we ran 5 really good laps. Hoping for a better turn out this weekend then the last. 5 laps into the practice smoke started to roll out of the header pipes. Kenny brought his smokey 77 modified into the pit when they decided to have four of the gangsta team members back to their race shop in Weare, NH to get their 2nd car.

Unfortunatley we didnt get a chance to run anymore practices or the heat race, so we took a provisional. So Kenny could get some points to keep from falling behind in the point standings. We started in the back of the pack. We began to move up around lap 20 but, the car didnt have the horse power that Kenny needed to make the car stick and keep the positions that he had just gained. Therefore we finished 15th.

Next weekend we are off to Oxford Plains Maine with our number one car. Team Gangsta has been working hard all week to get the motor ready. The last time Kenny raced at Oxford plains was in 1999 with the Pro Truck Tour. Wish us Luck!

Early Exit at Monadnock

July 10, 2008

Last Saturdays race at Monadnock started great.  We were running good times in practice and had no problems with the car at all.  We went out for the heat race and finished fourth, qualifying for the 12th position on the field.  The first 35 laps went awesome.  Kenny was just getting into the groove of the race track, running his line when all of a sudden water starts spilling out.  We went into the pits when Kenny realized that the motor was running very hot!!  We didnt want the motor to blow up, so the team members played it safe and loaded the car considering there was nothing they could do about this problem.  When they brought the car back to the shop they realized that it all stemmed back to the bad wreck we had at waterford.

Friday July 11 we are at our home track of LEE USA speedway.  Kenny ran well here at the beginning of the season and also the end of last year.  Hopefully throughout the week we fixed all the problems and we will be ready and raring to make a big appearance at Kenny's home track!

Early Trouble, But Decent finish

June 24, 2008

WEARE, N.H. - As the team entered Waterford, they had the hopes set high on getting a good finish. As the day went on it seemed like everything was going to work out. Then on lap 12 everything seemed to go down the drain quickly.

But thanks to the help of a lot of different people the 77 modified was able to return to the track. With a bent shock and 5 laps down the car was extremely good for the remainder of the race. Kenny managed to avoid numerous other cautions to finish 12th. The 12th place finish has moved Kenny back to the lead of the Rookie of the Year standings.

Kenny and the entire 77 modified team would like to send special thanks to Ken Barry and Carl Pasteryak for their help in putting the car back together. We would also like to thank the 15 crew and the 06 crew for their help as well and anyone else that helped as it was very busy and we couldn’t make out who everyone was.

Kenny and the 77 modified team are extremely excited to be heading to Wiscasset Raceway this weekend. Kenny has a lot of laps on the track and is really looking forward to the race.

Learning at the Cement Palace

June 17, 2008

WEARE, N.H. - After another below average finish Kenny and the 77 modified team can still find positives.

Just under a year ago at the same track Kenny and the 77 modified team failed to qualify for the 100 lap event during the DAV weekend race. However this trip to Seekonk Speedway Kenny would qualify and have a very good starting spot.

As Kenny and the 77 modified took the track for practice the car was pretty good right off the trailer. After drawing for our staring spot in the heat race we learned that we would be staring on the pole for the third heat race. Kenny would finish second in his heat race. This meant that Kenny would be starting sixth in the feature.

As Kenny took the green flag in the feature the car was extremely tight and Kenny couldn’t go anywhere but backwards. After about lap thirty the car started to loss-en up enough that Kenny started driving the car forward. However on about lap 65 Kenny was pit one lap down by the leaders. As the checkers flew on the field Kenny would find himself finishing in the 17th spot.

After another poor finish Kenny and the 77 modified team will be heading to the Waterford Speedbowl this Saturday night in hopes of changing their luck.

Kenny is really looking forward to returning to the Water Speedbowl this weekend. This will be the first track that Kenny will be racing on for a second time this season (excluding All-Star).

Rough night on the track not a complete loss.

June 11, 2008

Weare, N.H. – It was an extremely hot night at All- Star Speedway this past Saturday night. After struggling thru the first couple rounds of practice, the car was a lot better in the last practice session.

The 77 modified rolled out fifth in the first heat race. As soon as the green flag dropped Kenny drove the 77 modified into the third spot. After the 15-lap heat race Kenny finished third. Kenny’s best qualifying finish this season. After all of the heat races the top three from each heat would redraw for starting spots for the feature event. Kenny would redraw the fifth starting spot.

As the feature began the Kenny and the crew had high hopes for a good finish. At the drop of the green flag Kenny lost one spot and was running sixth for a good portion of the race. Until Kenny lost the handling on the car and caused him to spin the car and bring out the caution. After spinning the car out Kenny brought the car into the pits and the crew made a few adjustments to the car. When the green flag dropped Kenny was the man on the move as he charged towards the front. As the raced came to a close Kenny found himself in 14th position and that is where he would finish the race.

The entire race team learned a lot over the course of the day and is really looking forward to this Saturday night’s race at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, MA.

Kenny Returns to a Familiar Track

May 12, 2008

WEARE, N.H. - Last Wednesday night Kenny and the 77 modified head to All- Star Speedway to get some extra practice time before the first All- Star Showdown race. Kenny took the car out onto the track three times. After the third practice the crew heard a knocking noise from under the hood. After further investigation they found a problem with the motor. This brought our night to a fast halt. The crew loaded the car into the trailer and headed back to the shop to pull the motor out of the car.

Thursday morning came quickly. The team had spent the night pulling the motor out of the car. After getting some sleep, Kenny head to Jack’s Competition Engine’s in Canaan, NH. They picked up a motor from Jack’s and head straight home. When Friday rolled around it was time to put the new motor into the car. They where able to start the car around 11 PM that night.

The trailer arrived at the track around 11:30. After finishing a few things to the car Kenny took the car out for the first practice session. As he made his way out onto the track Kenny came on the radio and informed the crew that he had no power steering. After turning a few laps Kenny brought the 77 modified pit side so the crew could fix the problem. Shortly after fixing the power steering problem Kenny returned to the track for the second practice. After a couple of laps the 77 modified started pushing water out of the over flow. This would happen again during the third practice session as well.

After the third practice session the crew went to work to figure out what the problem was. After fixing the problem the track was nice enough to let us go out onto the track and see if we had fixed the problem. We began lining up for our heat race. Having next to nothing for practice that day how the car was going to handle was up in the air.

We went out for our heat race and it appeared that the car was going to be ok, but just after half away Kenny just lost the handling on the 77 modified. After finishing in the back of our heat we knew we would have to run the consi. As we prepared for the consi we learned that we had a provisional if we couldn’t make it to the top three in the consi. The team decided that we wanted to race our way into the feature.

We started the consi in the 7th position. After getting bet around for a few laps the toe on the car was knocked in and the it just lost the handling. After fighting his way back towards the front Kenny and the 77 modified went air born coming off of turn 2. This was due to the 0 car spinning and then pulling out in front of Kenny.

After the consi we learned that they would be starting all 30 cars. We also learned that we would be staring 30th. This wasn’t a big problem we knew that we would have 150 laps to get to the front. But before the feature there would be an on track autograph session.

As the feature began Kenny started to drive the 77 towards the front. This would be a tricky task as there were multiple cautions for accidents and spinning cars. As the lap 75 intermission approached Kenny had the 77 modified running 15th. After the 10 min. intermission on lap 75, in which the crew worked extremely hard and made a lot of adjustments to the car, Kenny and the 77 modified restarted 15th.

For the next 75 laps Kenny continued to move his away through the pack. After avoiding a few big accidents, Kenny managed to bring the 77 modified home in 11th place and in one piece.

Kenny and the 77 modified will be taking this weekend off. Our next race will be May 25th at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre, VT. Hope to see you there.

A Rough Night at Waterford.

WEARE, N.H. - Well it has been a few days since the race at Waterford. The team has been extremely busy preparing the car for this weekends race at All- Star Speedway. It is a 150 lap race that is the first of four All- Star Showdown races.

Kenny and the 77 modified team had really high hopes heading into Waterford this past Saturday night. Kenny was extremely happy with the way the car was handling during practice. After another week of drawing badly Kenny had to start sixth in the third heat. Unfortunately for Kenny the outside lane didn’t go and it took him a few laps to get by the slower cars. Once past the slower cars Kenny started to real in the leaders however time wasn’t on his side and Kenny would have to settle for 5th place in his heat.

Everyone was extremely happy as this was Kenny’s best finish in a heat race. The entire team was really looking forward to the feature event. We would start the race in 15th place. Right out of the gate Kenny and the 77 modified where extremely fast until we ran about 15 laps and from there on things started to go down hill for Kenny and the 77 modified team. The first chance Kenny had to come Pit side he did. The crew went right to work on the car trying to make a few adjustments to the car. After the race went back racing Kenny and the 77 modified looked extremely good for another 10 or 15 laps and then the car just seemed to go away from Kenny. This would continue all night. After struggling all night long, Kenny managed to finish 17th two laps down.

Overall it was a rough night for Kenny and the 77 modified team, but you will have those every know and again. However Kenny only lost one spot in points and still holds on to the top spot in Rookie of the Year standings.

TOP 10 for Kenny and the 77 Modified

WEARE, N.H. - Earlier in the week Team Gangsta Racing brought Phil Goodell on board to be the Crew Chief for the 77 modified. Phil Goodell spent the last two season as the Crew Chief for the 01 modified team, owned by Tim Creamer, which ran on the True Value Modified Racing Series. With the addition of Phil and his knowledge of the competitors and the tracks on the TVMRS the crew’s moral was extremely high.

After arriving at the track and drawing number 48 for our qualifying spot the crew went to work on the 77 modified to prepare it for practice. Shortly before the first practice we received the line-ups for the heats and learned we would be starting at the back of the second heat. After four rounds of practice Kenny and Phil both felt like the 77 modified was right where it need to be. It became apparent during practice that the communication between the driver, Kenny, and the crew chief, Phil, wasn’t going to be a problem.

Going out for the heat race we new we would be making the feature due to there only being 26 cars registered for the race. After avoiding a few spins during the heat race we managed to finish 6th in the second heat which meant we would be starting 17th in the feature later that night. After Kenny got out of the car from the heat race he was extremely happy about the way the car ran however he was a little disappointed that he could get around a few other cars.

As the feature got under way the leaders set an extremely fast pace. At the beginning of the race Kenny dropped back a little waiting to get a little heat in the tires. Once the tires got a little heat in them Kenny started driving the number 77 modified towards the front. As he worked his way to the front Kenny had to avoid numerous accidents and spinning cars. As the end of the race approached Kenny found himself in 12th place with 16 laps to go. Hoping to finish in the top ten Kenny drove the car for all it was worth for the last 16 laps managing to pick off two spots within three laps and he had his sights on more. Unfortunately Kenny didn’t have much tire left and had to settle for a 10th place finish. The entire crew worked hard all day long and was extremely happy with a 10th place finish. After all, this was only the first race that Kenny and Phil had worked together. After this great finish the entire team is looking forward to next weekends race at the Waterford Speedbowl.

After two races Kenny has the 77 modified 8th in points going into the third race of the season. Kenny also has the lead in Rookie of the Year Standings.

WEARE, N.H. - The day started out great for Kenny and the 77 modified team as we drew the number 1 spot for qualifying and would start on the pole in the first heat. Spirits where extremely high as we lined up for our first of two 10 minute practice sessions was about to begin. After the first practice session the crew went to work on the car to make a few adjustments to make it handle a little better for Kenny. After about a 10 minute break the modifieds began lining up for their second and final practice session of the day. Kenny quickly got into line. After the final practice session Kenny still didn’t have the car where he wanted it so the crew quickly went to work on preparing the car for our qualifying heat.

When the heat started the 77 modified took a couple laps to get heat into the tires and as a result dropped back through the pack quickly, but as heat got into the tires Kenny drove the 77 modified to a sixth place finish in the first heat meaning Kenny would start 16th on the grid for the 100 lap feature event. After the heat Kenny felt that the car would be pretty good in the feature giving the 77 team a little lift in spirits. After about a two hour wait our feature rolled out onto the track.

Over the course of the feature there where numerous cautions and even one red flag period. Kenny brought the 77 modified into the Pits for the crew to make some adjustments to the car on a couple of occasions. Each time seemed to make a little bit of improvement to the car. As the race went on Kenny ended up just having to hang onto the 77 modified hoping that everything would end all right. As the checker flag waved over the track Kenny drove the 77 modified to a 13th place finish. Overall the team was happy with the finish and can’t wait until the next race.

So after one race Kenny and the 77 modified currently are in 13th place in the point standing and 2nd in Rookie of the Year Standing. Kenny and the entire 77 modified team would like to thank Joey Mac for his help this weekend, we really appreciated it.

The Season Approaches

We are less then a week away from the first scheduled race of the 2008 TVMRS season. Over the past two weeks we have tested at the New Waterford Speedbowl and most recently at Lee USA Speedway, which happens to be the location of the first race of the season this Sunday April 20th. After a decent test there this past weekend we at Team Gangsta Racing have high hopes for what looks to be a great season of open wheel competition. With the first All-Star showdown race right on the horizon we are trying to finish the second car that we plan on running at all of the All-Star Showdown races. We are also currently working on getting some T-shirts made so that our fans can purchase them through the TVMRS souvenir booth at all TVMRS events. So keep a lookout for Kenny White Jr. T-shirts.

Hope to see you at the races
